SNF QRP: Review and Correct Report and Confidential Feedback Report Issues

CMS has notified us there are two issues with the SNF QRP Review and Correct Reports.

The first issue relates to the SNF QRP Review Reports not updating every Monday, as CMS had initially indicated. When a modification is submitted for an assessment, then the most recent assessment that was accepted in the ASPEN system on or prior to the submission deadline for quarters one and two of CY 2017, is not being used in the measure calculation.

Secondly, an issue has been identified in the coding of one measure contained in both the SNF Quality Measure (QM) and Review Correct Reports which affects the calculation of the measure.

CMS is working to resolve these issues and will send out a notification when the problems are corrected.

If you have any questions, please contact the QIES Help Desk at (405) 271-5278.

For more information on both of these issues, refer to the CMS notification by clicking here: 2017-08-21.SNF+QRP.Review%26CorrectReport%26ConfidentialFeedbackReportIssues.pdf

Oral Care Project

Multiple studies acknowledge that poor oral hygiene and lack of routine dental care can contribute to respiratory infections and other systemic diseases in high-risk patients living in nursing homes across the country. Improved dental hygiene may be a key in preventing aspiration pneumonia, the leading cause of death in nursing homes, as well as preventing cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes and dementia. In addition, a daily dental care regimen can be a cost-saving measure for nursing homes by reducing the expense and time associated with the required care related to the diseases.
